Artist's Comments

A stamp for people who animate Frame-by-Frame.

I animate fbf myself, I may not be too great at it yet, but I'm getting there :P

So yeah. For you fbf animators there, here you go XD

I animate FBF sometimes; most of the time I don't. But I have a lot of respect for those who go back to the original roots of animation; tough stuff.

what have I become?
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end
and you could have it all
my empire of dirt

if I could start again

I would keep myself
I would find a way

Yeah, I wish I had the skills to do Traditional animation, but I don't, and I have weak wrists so they wouldn't be able to take it methinks :/ I really envy those who can XD

XD; It's hard work, and it's becoming less and less artists who don't use computers now D:.

What do you mean by animating Frame by frame? You don't make they key images first ?

"Dies irae, dies Illa, solvet sæclum in favilla
Teste David cum Sybila"
:iconfeniiku:
I mean animating each frame one after another, with a fresh image every time.

Oh I see.
Because, i usually think that :
Frame by frame means you draw image 1, then image 2, then 3, then 4 etc.
And I call Key animation when you draw key images 1, then let say key image 5. And after image 3, and images 2 and 4 which are the intervals...

But you're talking about the difference between "traditionnal" animation and flash-like animation where you use movement interpolations, don't you?

:iconfeniiku:
Yeah, the first definition there is what I meant. I'm not really all that knowledgeable about different styles of animation, more with fbf, key animation (as you say there), and those symbol tweening animation people do. I try to keep away from traditional animation when I attempt to define things, since I have absolutely no idea how the traditional method works, other than the fact that it requires a lot of effort.

If that made sense.

Yes i understand now :) thank you for your explanation.
I did a little bit of flash to see how it works but don't know much about it. But i really don't like that automatic animation thing...

However I do traditionnal animation at school and that's why I was asking you. I work sometimes with photoshop CS/ex-image ready but i basically use the same technique.
Our teacher always told us frame by frame animation was the Evil and that we had to work always with key images and making what we call "barettes d'animation", it's like a little schema you use to define the rythm and number of images...
And yes it's totally awful....A true nightmare...

It's very difficult to get frame by frame to remain looking consistent throughout the whole animation, that's probably why the teacher calls it 'evil' XD
